Large displacement movement in northeastern Syria

On Oct 9, 2017, “”The start of “Peace Spring” Operation, in northeastern Syria, led to a large displacement from the areas near the Syrian-Turkish border, and the people of some of those areas had not previously been displaced, such as the Al-Malikiyah area in the north of Al-Hasakah governorate, and the number of displaced reached about 160,000.

After the announcement of the cessation of the Operation, about 55 thousand of the people returned to their areas, while the rest are still living in camps lacking the most basic life necessities, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
